Week 6; Podcasts

We have been exploring the wonderful sub-iTunes world of Podcasts. I was truly amazed that so much content on itunes was free. the information that can be aquired is vast. Some videos did turn out to be troll videos, a video in which promises content and holds no such info, usually replacing it with a troll song.
If I was to use podcasts in the classroom I would probably search for certain ones myself, unsure if I would trust the site with minors for the troll reason.
iTunes U was very helpful. It is amazing that I can "sit in" on a lecture from stanford while really sitting in my dorm room. That freedom will help me in classes and will revolve around the schedule I set rather than the school's.

Week 5; Internet Bias

This week we learned the history of search engines and false web sites. This is very helpful in teaching when a student may use a site in a citation and I may have to go in and tell that student that the site they used is false and put there to be a false informer. I can also teach my students how to identify a false website.

Week 4; Google Earth tour!

This week we each developed a tour on google earth. We had to find at least 5 places in Oregon, all under a certain theme of our choice. I went with theatres in Oregon that I have performed at and seen plays at. They range from very minor theatres set up in my community all the way to the touring Broadway theatre. This could show children the places in which the lesson may be based around.

Week 2; Photoshop fun!

This week we played around and learned how to work the elusive program called Photoshop. I decided to go the creative way and put my best friend, Audrey, and myself riding the cat, Maru, up a pretty rainbow. I named my work, "Adventures in Maruland." I really enjoy the internet cat named Maru and he seemed perfect for my project.
To make this school related, I figured Photoshop could be used to show how some things can and cannot happen. I could show a picture of a flying cat to my class and ask if it could happen. mostly for small children, mind you, to build up a basis of what is realistic and what is fictional.
